And with the announcement that BT are starting to roll out the next generation of fibre optic network around the UK, this may be sooner than you think. Act now to avoid losing your business! So ask yourself this...
The choice is yours! For the techies! An ENUM (E-Number) allows a telephone number to be entered into the worldwide Internet Domain Name System. The primary function of this is to permit Internet services to be accessed via a telephone number and is a key protocol in enabling the convergence of telephony and Internet services. The great thing about enum is that it doesn't require user to get used to a new system or change there habits in any way. The result is that the caller still dials a telephone number on his end device, as normal. Thus, he doesn’t have to change his habits or worry about the details regarding the addressing or the establishment of the connection. ENUM is not a telephony service as such, it is really the glue that allows the telephone network to attach directly to the internet think of it as an large automatic phonebook for everyone who registers. |
